Capsules and Tablets
Key “dosage forms” of the Dietary Supplement and Nutritional markets, capsules and tablets can include Peptan™ Hydrolyzed Collagen.
Tablet has become one of the most popular solid dosage forms for medicines, OTC drug and dietary supplements. It represents a low cost form and provides good patient compliance. About one-half of all prescriptions are dispensed in tablets.
In tablets, Peptan™ will play two roles: it will provide a significant part of the recommended daily dose of Peptan™, while helping the tabletting process. Hydrolyzed Collagens may be used in the two main tabletting processes that are wet granulation and direct compression. They will in particular assist with their:

wettability and cold solubility properties

binding power for adhesive and cohesive properties

excellent powder flowability and compression properties

suited disintegration (<10seconds) ensuring good drug availability
In the finished tablet, anywhere between 3 to 40% of collagen, on a dry weight basis, can be reached.
Peptan™ allows the manufacture of the various kinds of tablets. Tablets are divided in several categories, the most known are:

compressed tablets to be swallowed

effervescent tablets

chewable tablets (vitamin, antiacid, ...)
Peptan™ can be formulated into soft gelatine capsules as well.
The Peptan™ powder form is also particularly suitable to be use in filling hard gelatine capsules, where up to 500-mg can be added. This provides a significant source of Hydrolyzed Collagen.
